Members,

The Board of Directors of the Nanaimo Minor Hockey Association are pleased to announce that we have hired Gaelan Patterson as our Director of Hockey Operations. This is a new position in our association, and we are excited to move our association forward. We are the first association on Vancouver Island to have someone is this position.

The Director of Hockey Operations is responsible for creating a successful minor hockey program through the development and implementation of a solid, uniform program from U7 right through to U21. He will develop and present a standardized curriculum for the entire association, working with coaches to deliver the absolute best hockey programming possible. The Director of Hockey Operations shall be responsible for the running of each division within the association. This fact will free the Directors to participate in the areas of growth, retention and marketing. This is a tremendous step forward for our association.

Gaelan Patterson was selected for this position after completing a very thorough screening process. There was no shortage of applicants for this position. Gaelan is recently arrived form Saskatchewan where he was. The Associate Coach/Associate General Manager for the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the SJHL. Gaelan played four seasons for the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL and was drafted by the Calgary Flames in 2009. Beginning with the Abbotsford Heat in 2010, Gaelan played 9 years of professional hockey before making the switch to full time coaching. He has taught and coached at several academies and was working closely with La Ronge Minor Hockey prior to moving to the Island. We are confident that he will provide our association with the leadership that will guide us to the next level as an organization.

Please join us in welcoming Gaelan Patterson to Nanaimo Minor Hockey.

Respectfully,

Board of Directors

Nanaimo Minor Hockey
