Through female hockey, players experience passion, exhilaration and excitement. They are given opportunities to learn and improve technical skills, challenge themselves, have fun and make new friends.

The game of female hockey has been played for more than 100 years and has been growing exponentially since 1990, the year of the first official women’s world championship. Today, it is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world. At Nanaimo Minor Hockey our mission statement is to promote sportsmanship, fair competition, development and safety for minor hockey players of all skill levels.
Nanaimo Minor Hockey Association is proud to support a recreational female division. Currently, the Female teams have players in U8, U11, U13, U15 and U18. Here is your opportunity to play a great sport with your peers where you will develop your skills, play hockey, make friends for life, and have fun!
Make sure your player has a practice jersey and socks to begin the season with, check your player gear over the summer too! Sharpen those skates!!
Players may be evaluated and placed onto equal teams near then end of Sept. at which times their team jersey and socks will be handed out.
Once teams are formed please be in contact with your team manager for all ice times
Practices: Once a week, mainly on Wednesdays.
Games: Once a week, usually on weekends, scheduled by Vancouver Island Amateur Hockey Assoc. beginning Week after Thanksgiving
Schedules: Practice schedules are created after game schedules are set. Please check with your team manager for updates, especially if VIAHA schedules arrive late in the week.

Groupings & Jerseys

If your child’s name is missing, no need to panic! Please contact the administrator. Jerseys will be handed out at first ice time, come 30 minutes prior to ice time, not earlier as dressing rooms are not available.
